We created an interactive cost calculator that showcased the savings of using TrustedHousesitters over traditional pet care, driving engagement, lead generation, and long-term marketing impact.

Overview

TrustedHousesitters sought to provide its customers with a practical yet engaging way to assess potential savings when choosing TrustedHousesitters over traditional pet supervision options like kennels or private pet sitters.
Our task was to design and build a multi-step calculator that would guide users through a series of questions, including location, type of pet, and length of stay. The objective was to provide prospective customers with a personalised savings calculation, showcasing how much they could potentially save by choosing TrustedHousesitters for their pet care needs.
TrustedHousesitters’s marketing team aimed to create an engaging entry point for new customers by generating positive friction through an interactive calculator. The calculator’s design needed to be visually appealing, on-brand, and user-friendly while effectively capturing key customer data points. By focusing on affordability and transparency, the objective was to build a compelling case for choosing TrustedHouseSitters over conventional pet sitting options.

The Challenge

TrustedHousesitters recognised that many potential customers were unaware of the cost savings associated with using their services compared to traditional pet care options. Additionally, the marketing team needed a compelling tool that could simultaneously engage users, convey key value propositions, and capture lead information. The challenge was to design an interactive digital asset that was informative, visually appealing, and aligned with the brand’s identity while effectively driving conversions.

The Solution

We collaborated closely with TrustedHousesitters’s design and marketing teams to rapidly prototype and deploy a lightweight, branded digital calculator experience. The project involved:
  • Design Integration: Ensuring alignment with TrustedHouseSitter’s existing brand guidelines and design systems, creating a cohesive visual identity.
  • Technical Implementation: Developing both the front-end interface and back-end logic, allowing users to input specific data points and receive personalised savings calculations in real time.
  • User Experience Optimisation: Implementing intuitive click-through navigation to maintain user engagement while minimising friction.
  • Scalability: Building the calculator as a reusable asset that could be adapted for other marketing campaigns and content initiatives.

The Impact

By developing a tailored, interactive Pet Care Cost Calculator, we created a dynamic digital asset that not only aligned with TrustedHousesitters’s brand guidelines but also delivered measurable results in customer acquisition and engagement. The Pet Care Cost Calculator quickly became a standout asset for the marketing team, driving significant user engagement and conversions:
  • Extended Campaign Duration: Originally intended to run for one month, the calculator was kept live for a full quarter due to its success.
  • Increased Traffic and Registrations: Within the three-month period, the calculator generated 45k instances of traffic, outperforming the initial projection of 70k over a year. Additionally, it led to 819 new customer registrations, demonstrating its effectiveness as a lead generation tool.
  • Evergreen Content Strategy: The success of the calculator prompted TrustedHouseSitters to adopt it as a permanent feature in their digital marketing strategy, supported by blog content that drives additional traffic and engagement.
The Pet Care Cost Calculator is now positioned as a key asset within TrustedHousesitters’s marketing ecosystem, continuing to deliver value through ongoing user engagement and customer acquisition.
